No School Is My Fav.

Thank heaven for important people's birthdays. Yesterday was a famous composer's birthday so the school of music was closed for a few workshops and stuff so I had no school which was fabulous! I went shopping for our monthly groceries and when I got home I put dinner in the oven and then bagged our fruits and veggies to make them easier to be used for lunches in the mornings when time is short. Sometimes I feel that I am a much better wife and homemaker when I'm not in school. It felt so good to go shopping, make dinner, prepare lunch for the next day, clean the house, plant flowers, do the dishes and do all of the things I feel like I should be doing. But I also know school is what I'm supposed to be doing right now. Then today was Veteran's Day and Collin and I both had the day off! It has been amazing! We dedicated this day to ourselves since every single day we've been married (aside from the honeymoon) one or both of us has either had something for church, work, school, or a family/friend function and today we had NOTHING! We had 17 things we wanted to do and we put them in a hat, drew out 5 to narrow down our options, and ended up staying home and doing a craft/project together! We went from camping at the Grand Canyon to sleeping in and making one wall cuter! And that's why I love my husband. We have been wanting a tree on our wall for quite some time now and we had one picked out, and with a few tweaks, Collin made it exactly how we wanted it on the computer and printed out a pattern. We went to Home Depot to get the wood for the tree and when we got it to our car we realized it wouldn't fit. So we were stuck, then an employee suggested that we put the board on top of our car and shrink wrap it. So we put the wood on top of our car, shut the doors, rolled down the windows and ran shrink wrap through the windows around the car over and over and over. We were so grateful the worker helped us. And then we realized, the doors were shrink wrapped closed!!!!!!! So we had to get in Duke's of Hazard style..through the windows. It was a sight to see and people sure thought it was funny! We did make it home though! Then we laid the pattern out on the wood and traced it. Then Collin went to town cutting it out. Our plan for the tree is to have it be cute enough on its own to not need decorations, but to be capable of holding decorations for certain times curing the year when I'd like to decorate. One of those times is now, so while Coll cut, I made a few decorations to hand from our branches. The decorations are courtesy of thrift and dollar stores. The project is still in the works but here's what we have so far. Also, we got to visit Grandpa Tom today, our favorite Veteran...Happy Veterans Day GrandpaTo all of those who serve our country, thank you, we love you, you're in our prayers.

***Funny side note...I ended up having to go to school today for an hour. It was ALMOST a full day off!

I completely agree with you about feeling like a better wife when I don't have school so I can be more focused. Sometimes I just want to quit...but Jack convinces me that school is important for now and he will survive if everything is not perfect all the time for the next year and a half. We are almost finished though...stick with it!
