A Month Gone By

As you may or may not have noticed (if you didn't notice, just don't tell me) I took a month off from blogging. I didn't do it on purpose, it just ended up being something I could temporarily remove from my full plate. My plate is becoming less full as finals are nearly over and papers are written. So here I am, and what better time to come back than Mother's Day? I never know if it's Mother's Day or Mothers' Day or Mothers Day. For me, it's Mother's Day I think because it's my mom's day right? That's neither here nor there. What is here, and there, and everywhere is my mom. She never stops.

For some reason I had the notion that when I left the house and my mom no longer had children at home she would be so lonely and in such despair that she would just sit on the couch all day waiting for me to call. Oh how I was wrong. I have never called home when my mom was doing nothing but waiting for me to call. She's usually walking with her sister, doing her visiting teaching, having a presidency meeting or preparing for a presidency meeting, cooking dinner for Dad, Grandpa and whoever else shows up, or driving Hue around town.

And you know what? When I call and she's doing those things, it shows me more love and compassion from my mom than if she were just plopped down waiting for my call. My mom's a good woman and I'm grateful for her. Mom, I hope you have the best day ever. I love you.

That mom of yours is an amazing woman. Like mother, like daughter. She should be so proud of you too.

Hey, I love your Mama too! She is always busy, and the funny thing is, she is never busy doing things for herself, it's always for others. What a great example. Happy Mothers Day Mama Martin!
