Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree...

Yesterday was my 6th music therapy session of the semester. I meet with a group of people in their 70's and 80's who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. We meet once a week and do music therapy to help maintain their current functioning and hopefully improve in some areas too. The sessions generally go really well, and in fact I got 100% on my last session which was graded by my supervisor. Then there was yesterday. I tried a few new activities and nothing really was working. I got a lot of blank stares, and even some looks telling me I was completely stupid. It wasn't until later in the day, when I was explaining to C what happened, that I realized why the session was such a bust...and just how funny it is. The conversation went something like this:

C: How was your session today?

Me: It was AWFUL.

C: Oh man, what happened? Give me details.

Me: Well I tried playing Name That Tune with Alzheimer's patients....

Enough said.

So i read your post at the movie theatre, waiting for a movie to start. Sarah had to tell me to be quiet because i was laughing so hard. That reminds me of the time i told a family member that i was going to be working with visually impaired employees, and they asked me if i had to learn sign language. HAHA
